DIY Pokeball Decorations

Following last week’s bedroom makeover post, I’ve got another easy decoration to make – Pokeballs!

When I saw this pin, I knew it would be something we could easily add to the bedroom decor. That pin is just a photo (a great photo, mind you!), there are no instructions. But it’s not hard to achieve the Pokeball look.

It took me a while to find round, white, paper lanterns…but they finally turned up. Yes, I could have bought some on-line, but I was sure I would eventually find some.

These were $2 each from the Reject Shop. I’ve bought better quality ones from them before – these are not so good. But they will still work!

Once assembled, I painted the top half of the lantern red. They needed two coats to look really good, but you could probably get away with just one. They’re going to be hanging up high, you’re not going to be that close to see the standard of your paint job. Be careful while painting, remember it is thin paper 😉

I found the clothes line was a perfect spot to dry them!

In the meantime, I painted a strip of paper black. This also needed two coats of paint. You could buy black craft paper and miss this step, but I had the paper, the paint, and the time. Once dry, I cut three strips to give each Pokeball the band around their middle.

For the buttons, I used some white card. I found a round object the size I wanted (in this case, a candle!) and used that to draw around. Then I used the paint bottle as a guide to draw a smaller circle inside. The circle cut-outs got a black border.

Once everything was dry, all it took was a bit of craft glue to stick it all together!

I think they look very effective, and our son thinks I am a top mum!

These would be a great addition to a Pokémon party as well. Just allow enough time to get them done!
